Agro.ing City
An Agrarian Approach to Regenerate Urban Landscape

AGRO.ing City was the winning entry in Urban Excellence Design in Designing Resilience in ASIA (DRIA) 2020-2021 and was called for the Best Community and Socially Resilient Design . Naga city, nestled at the foot of Mount Isarog is experiencing rapid urbanization at the cost of disrupting the characteristics of its landscape. Water generated from the hydrological events throughout the year is currently a nuisance since the runoff travels faster in the sloping terrain to create havoc downtown.
Our proposal seeks a way to manage these two major natural forces in Naga city under an integrated agricultural system that, in turn, regenerates this landscape and achieves ecological, economic, and social resilience. To achieve our vision, we subdivide the landscape according to topographic slope and hydrologic movement- Upland (source) ,Midland (Transmission), CBD (Basin ) to mitigate, adapt and reinstate the effects of climate change in Naga City through a comprehensive landscape strategy and water management system in different scales. The proposal acknowledges the existing farmlands and capillaries as an integral part of the overall hydrological system and seeks answers to housing needs and further growth without interrupting these systems. It suggests an integrated framework that is landscape-sensitive, economically viable, carbon-efficient, and replicable.
